Pokemon GO, How's the Hype?

Ever since Pokemon Go's release back in early July, the world cannot stop talking about it. Why is everyone suddenly rushing to this new game? Is it just a ruse for the governments to track you? Are people using it to mug people? Read more to find out.

Pokemon Go, for those who aren't yet familiar with it, is Nintendo's new mobile game and continuation on the classic Pokemon franchise. Within a month, the game has easily surpassed most other apps and risen to the top spot in the most downloaded category on IOS and Android. You may have seen stories of people being mugged, killed and trespassing while playing this new game. While it is true that there have been reports of events like those listed, things like that always happen, regardless of if people are playing the game or not. The guy standing in the dark alley who is going to mug you doesn't care if you're playing the new Pokemon game or if you're checking Facebook or Twitter. People have been walking with their phones in their hands for years, and a game isn't going to change that.

Now the skeptics and conspiracy theorists out there are saying, "Pokemon Go is just a tracker made by the governments," and, "Pokemon Go is hacking all of your Google accounts," and things of similar nature. Now is any of this true? No, no it's not. Just because a game uses your phone's GPS doesn't mean that its being used to track you. If the governments wanted to watch your every move they would just do it. It's no secret that people, both official and otherwise, can easily access your phone without having any special app installed.

So why is everyone flocking to this game? It's actually pretty simple; the bandwagon effect. You have probably heard your friends and family talking about the game. Since it's so popular, why not check it out? People who have loved Pokemon since 1998 and people who have never heard of it before are all flocking to this game from a mixture of curiosity, popular opinion, and heavy media coverage alike. So I ask you, do you play Pokemon Go?

By the way, team Mystic will dominate. Trust that I have a part 2 coming soon talking about just that.
