Some things to do with computer parts

So, I'm back after my reprieve... And oh boy am I late. I also have a question for you loyal readers. Continued below.
First off, I have been gone because school, tests, and papers. Yay. Anyway, on to the techy stuff. I recently came across a bunch of old computer parts (floppy drives, mother boards, cd-rom drives, and the like), and I have some things to say about it.
If any of you ever come across electronics components that you want, make sure to de-solder them from their circuits to save space. BUT FIRST ALWAYS REMEMBER TO DISCHARGE EVERYTHING FIRST. Make sure you have the right equipment (tiny screwdrivers, soldering iron, pliers, and a knife) and then get going. You probably know how to de-solder a circuit board, but I'll give a quick overview for those who don't.

  1. Pre-heat your soldering iron
  2. Spread some flux on the contact points (optional, but I've found it helps to not burn the PCB if you mess up)
  3. De-solder the contacts (common sense on this part)
  4. Hold component with pliers and wiggle back and forth if needed
Yeah. It's pretty easy.
Time for a question: I have a bunch of components, but nothing to use them for. Anyone have any cool ideas for some projects? I am already making a coil gun, so there's that. Post your ideas in the comments below!
